Overview
What is a 48V Lithium Battery?
A 48V lithium battery is the highest-volume industrial and commercial e-mobility voltage. At 48V, a system draws half the current of a 24V design for the same power output, reducing conductor cross-section, connector sizing, and switching component ratings — lowering system cost and heat generation. This efficiency advantage makes 48V the dominant voltage for high-throughput AGV fleets, commercial solar storage rack modules, and 48V mild-hybrid automotive systems. A standard 48V pack uses 13 NMC cells in series (13S) or 16 LFP cells (16S at 51.2V nominal) common in rack storage.
Applications
Common applications for 48V Lithium Battery cells
Application
Commercial AGV Fleets
High-throughput warehouse and manufacturing AGV systems use 48V lithium packs for extended shift coverage, opportunity charging between tasks, and lower total cost of ownership versus lead-acid.
Application
48V Mild Hybrid Automotive
Automotive 48V systems power belt-integrated starter-generators, electric supercharging, and energy recovery, bridging the gap between conventional and full-hybrid drivetrains.
Application
Solar Storage Rack Systems
Residential and commercial solar-plus-storage installations use 48V lithium rack modules as the standard building block, stacking units to reach higher system capacity.

Key advantages
Energy
High Energy Density
Semi-solid electrolyte design enables energy densities above 300 Wh/kg — measurably higher than conventional liquid electrolyte cells of equivalent format and chemistry.
Safety
Reduced Flammability
Semi-solid cells use significantly less liquid electrolyte than conventional cells, reducing the flammable material available during a thermal event and lowering thermal runaway propagation risk.
Certifications
Export-Ready Documentation
UN38.3, IEC 62133, MSDS, and supporting export documentation available for all cells. antbattery handles the certification paperwork required for air freight and customs clearance.
OEM Support
Custom Cell and Pack Formats
Custom cell dimensions, capacity ranges, tab configurations, and pack-level BMS integration available for OEM programs. Sampling typically ships within 4 to 6 weeks of design confirmation.
